Who we are
VistaVoyage (vistavoyage.co.za) is a South African flight comparison and travel information site run by Kyle Govender in Johannesburg. What we collect and why
- Site analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read, how visitors arrive (search, direct, other sites), what device and browser they use, their approximate location (country or city), and which buttons are clicked, including clicks through to our booking partner. Google Analytics sets cookies (named
_gaand_ga_*) to tell repeat visits apart. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We use this to improve the site and to measure whether our pages help people book. Event-level analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months. - Contact form. If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address and message so we can reply. You also receive an automatic acknowledgement email.
- Email sign-up. If you subscribe on our homepage, we receive your email address so we can send occasional travel emails. Reply “unsubscribe” to any email and we will remove you.
- WhatsApp and email messages. If you message us, we receive your number or email address and whatever you choose to send, and use it only to answer you.
- Server logs. Like every website, our web host records standard technical logs (IP address, page requested, time, browser) for security and troubleshooting.
We do not take payments, we never see your card details, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Who else receives information
- Travelstart and Impact. Our flight search and “compare fares” links go to Travelstart through its affiliate programme on the Impact platform. The search widget only loads when you tap it. When you tap it or click a booking link, Impact and Travelstart set their own cookies so that a booking can be credited to VistaVoyage. Anything you enter on Travelstart (names, contact and payment details) goes to Travelstart, not to us, and is covered by Travelstart’s own privacy policy, available on travelstart.co.za. We only see anonymous click and booking totals. See our affiliate policy for how we are paid.
- Google. Google processes the analytics data above, and our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers.
- FormSubmit. Our contact and sign-up forms are delivered to our inbox by FormSubmit (formsubmit.co).
Some of these providers process information outside South Africa. We only use established providers that publish their own data-protection terms.
How long we keep it
Contact and WhatsApp messages are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry. Sign-up email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is handled as described above.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to us using it. Email hello@vistavoyage.co.za and we will respond. You can stop Google Analytics measuring your visits with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator.
Children
VistaVoyage is written for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and its date, and log the change in our corrections log.
